Meet Josina

Josina Morita is a community organizer and voting rights advocate who has been building a more inclusive, engaged and powerful Democratic Party for over a decade. 

As the founder of the Asian American Caucus, she helped grow the number of Asian American electeds from 0 to 17 members in the last ten years. As the founder of the country’s first Mama’s Caucus, she has helped engage young mothers and families to make Illinois the most mama-friendly state in the nation. In 2022, she received the Party Builder Award from the Illinois Democratic County Chairs Association. 

In 2021, she became the Niles Township Democratic Committeeperson–the first woman to hold this seat and the first Asian American woman Democratic Committeeperson in Cook County. As Committeeperson she grew the organization recruiting 500 new volunteers and winning 90 percent of races keeping right-wing book banners and anti-LGBT candidates out of office. 

If elected, Josina will be the first Asian American State Central Committeeperson in Illinois. She is endorsed by U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky.
